Description
At the end of this DSL course you will be able to:

- identify what is meant by safeguarding and child abuse,
- discuss the relevant legislation and guidance that provides the framework for safeguarding young people,
- define the roles and responsibilities in regard to safeguarding children including the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL),
- recognise how your own beliefs, experiences and attitudes might influence professional involvement in safeguarding work,
- state how to respond to concerns about safety and welfare of a child/young person using your own settings child protection policy and procedures,
- identify barriers for children reporting concerns,
- discuss the importance of recording information accurately,
- refer a child/family to the right people on the correct manner.
You must complete the online course and obtain 80% or over in the assessment in order to download your certificate of completion. Once you have completed this course you will still be able to access it for 2 years from the date that you paid for it.
If you work in an Early Years setting, you MUST complete Safeguarding training every 2 years and ensure that you stay up to date with any changes to legislation and reporting. This course fully meets the requirements of the EYFS.
